Arun Kumar Chaudhary, a Nagarik Unmukti Party lawmaker, has been arrested by the Sudurpaschim Province Police Office. Chaudhary is a Member of Parliament from Kailali Constituency-2 and was elected on November 20, 2022, after previously losing two elections.

He and three others were found guilty in an arson case that took place in 2065 BS and was sentenced to six months in prison and ordered to pay a fine of Rs 8 lakh 19 thousand 423 by the District Court Kailali. The arson involved the stopping of a tractor, beating the driver, and setting the vehicle on fire. The case was registered against them and an order was issued by the court.
