Nepal and India have agreed to increase the current electricity import-export through the Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur transmission line by 200 MW.
Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur transmission line agreement
On the 18th of February (Saturday) in Rajasthan, India, it was agreed to increase the current import-export capacity in the meeting of the Energy Secretary-level joint directorate committee.
Currently, 600 megawatts of electricity are being imported and exported from the 400-kilovolt Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur’s first international transmission line. Now there is an agreement to import and export 800 MW from there, said Madhu Prasad Bhetuwal, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Energy.

According to Joint Secretary Marasini, the joint technical team has been instructed to study exchanging electricity from the currently under-construction Dhalkebar (Nepal)-Sitamarhi (India) transmission line.
An agreement has also been reached to import and export 70 to 80 megawatts of electricity from the Tanakpur-Mahendranagar 132 KV power transmission line. Also, the officials of Nepal and India have agreed to conduct a joint technical team to study possible options for exporting up to 200 megawatts of electricity.
