The cabinet agreed to declare a national holiday to commemorate the day the former CPN-Maoist began the People’s War.
The authorities of the provinces of Karnali and Bagmati had already resolved to honor the People’s War Day and declare tomorrow a holiday.
The “People’s War” was initiated by the then-CPN (Maoist) on Falgun 1, 2052 BS.
The battle ended on November 22, 2006, when the Maoist and the then-President of the Nepali Congress, Girija Prasad Koirala, signed a 12-point peace agreement.
