The CPN-Maoist Center and the Nepal Samajwadi Party, led by Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, have decided to pursue party mergers as soon as possible.

Maoist Center, according to a member of the party integration negotiating committee, would unite with the Baburam-led Nepal Samajwadi Party immediately.

“Party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has already stated formally on this matter.” The leader stated, “Unity is possible with individuals who share the same worldview.”

Thursday, the vice-chairman and coordinator of the negotiation committee for the Maoist Center, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, and a member of the negotiation committee, Girirajmani Pokharel, discussed party unity with the chairman and leader of the CPN Maoist Samajwadi Party, Karnajit Budhathoki and Tilak Magar, respectively.

The negotiation group of the Maoist Center also met with Nepal Communist Party General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav,’ Nepal Communist Party Chairman Rishi Kattel, Scientific Socialist Communist Party General Secretary Ahuti, and CPN Maoist Socialist Chairman Karnajit Budhathoki (Susheel).

Prior to this, the head of the Maoist Center, Prachanda, and the deputy chair and coordinator of the negotiating committee constituted for party unification, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, met with the leaders of the four left parties to discuss party unity.
