Today, Rajendra Singh Rawal, the chief minister of Sudurpaschim Province, is holding a vote of confidence (Thursday).
Rajendra Singh Rawal taking a vote of confidence
Even though he was scheduled to take the vote of confidence on Wednesday, it was postponed at the last minute due to the decision of the Nagarik Unmukti Party not to offer CM Rawal a vote of confidence.
Today at 1 pm, according to the Sudurpaschim Parliamentary Secretariat, Chief Minister Rawal will take the vote of confidence.
Rawal is required by the constitution to secure a vote of confidence within one month of his appointment as prime minister.
The provincial assembly members from the CPN-UML, the Maoist Center, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and the Nagarik Untukti Party supported the election of CM Rawal.
The Nagarik Unmukti Party has been requesting that party leader Resham Lal Choudhary be released.
The party has seven members in the provincial legislature.
If the Nagarik Unmukti Party does not vote, the administration led by Rawal would fall and the province parliament’s secretariat will appoint a new Chief Minister.
