Rupak Sapkota has been appointed as Foreign Affairs Advisor to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. With the Prime Minister giving the appointment, Sapkota has officially started working.
Who is Rupak Sapkota?
Sapkota is the son of Agni Sapkota, former Speaker and Vice Chairman of Maoist. He is known as an expert on international relations and foreign affairs. He has also been teaching international relations and diplomacy at Tribhuvan University.
In addition, Sapkota, who is also responsible as a member of TU’s International Relations and Diplomacy Committee, has deep knowledge of international relations, geopolitics, foreign policy, national security, and strategic matters.

From November 2019 to October 2021, he served as the Deputy Executive Director of the Foreign Affairs Studies Institute, an important think tank of the Government of Nepal.
He has published many articles on geopolitical, foreign, and strategic affairs. He has also co-authored and edited many books. In addition, his research articles have also been published in many prestigious international journals.
Dr. In 2018, Sapkota graduated from Renmin University, a famous university in Beijing, China, with a degree in International Studies.
Dr. Sapkota also has experience working as a senior scholar and research fellow in various universities around the world. He has a good command of the Chinese language.
The Prime Minister has earlier appointed Haribol Gajurel as Political Advisor to the Prime Minister, Sant Kumar Darai as Chief Personal Secretary, Ramesh Malla, and Ganga Dahal as Personal Secretaries, Manhari Timalsina as Press Expert, and Suryakiran Sharma as Press Coordinator.
