A month-long Swasthani fast is ending today. Swasthani Vrat Katha, which Hindu devotees have been reverently reading and listening to from Paush Shukla Purnima to Magh Shukla Purnima, is about to end today. Those fasting for Madhavnarayan are also completing their fast on Wednesday.
Swasthani fasting ends today in Nepal
Like in previous years, devotees have thronged places like Shalinadi in Kathmandu, Gaurighat in Pashupati, and Hanuman ghat in Bhaktapur since early morning for the completion of Swasthani Vrat Katha.
Devotees from different districts have been fasting and worshiping Sri Swasthani in Shalinadi since tradition. They started the fast from the last Pus Shukla Purnima by accepting water offerings of Madhavanarayan known as Swami in the month of Magha.
During the Satya Yuga, Parvati, the daughter of the Himalayas, fasted in order to meet Mahadev Swami, and it is customary to recite, listen to, and worship the story of Swasthani with the belief that her wish was fulfilled.
